Whilst undoubtedly the summer months of July and August are the busiest time of the year on the French Riviera (and the hottest), for those of you who aren’t bound to the school holidays, May, June and September provide some of the better times to go. The weather is superb, the summer crowds are not there and you can more easily get to your favourite beach, book a table in your favourite restaurant or sit in your favourite bar overlooking the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean.

From December to Easter the ski resorts of Auron, St Etienne, Isola 2000 and Vignoles are open and can be reached in approximately 1 hour from Rustica and as the villa has central heating and a beautiful large working fireplace Rustica also provides an ideal base to spend time over the winter months. You can be skiing in the Alps one day, taking your lunch on the snow covered slopes, and then sitting in the sun overlooking the beach and blue Med the next. And, regardless of the time of year you can swim in the wonderful heated pool.

For those of you who are into sailing, Antibes is a well known stop over for “yachties” and has one of the largest marinas on the Med and if it’s a sailing holiday you are after, yet also need a base on dry land, there are numerous yacht and motorboat charterers who will be able to get you any size yacht or boat you require.

Antibes is a beautiful old Roman town, with picturesque old buildings, secret alleys, wonderful shops, restaurants and bars. It is less than 20km from Nice Airport or can be reached by Train (Antibes is a TGV station), by car, or by bus.

A perfect location for a holiday – any time of year.
